Why Podcasting?

In 2010 after discovering I had a massive 14cm tumour on my kidney and then after undergoing a radical nephrectomy (kidney removal)  I had to find a way to keep my brand alive while I was recovering. I couldn’t go anyway for a year, I didn’t look too good so I wasn’t going to plaster my face on a video plus I was spending most of my days in my pj’s! Then I ask myself…What can I do in my pj’s! I then realised I had technology, my brains and my voice. I’ll start a podcast show. Little did I know the phenomenon it would become and the impact it would have on my business.

In 2010 Red Tent Radio was born. It was an interview style format where I spoke to CEO’s of major corporations, #1 bestselling authors, world renowned speakers, A list actors and directors. Within one month we were picked up by a US radio station with an average of 5000 listeners per week and our subscribers via iTunes increased at a consistent rate. Not bad for a sick chick living in her pj’s! You can see from the image below how many downloads our fourth episode achieved within just three months.

We produced 66 episodes of Red Tent Radio and garnered many testimonials, good will and a reputation that you can’t buy. By simply having my own ‘radio show’ I was instantly put into an arena of the elite. I had a platform that others wanted to be on giving me an opportunity to connect and engage with industry leaders and influencers.
